Obituary of Charles Gibson Ryland

Charles Gibson Ryland 78 of Huntington, West Virginia passed away on February 4, 2025 following a sudden illness.

Gibson was born on October 26, 1946 in Huntington, West Virginia the son of the late Joseph and Thelma Fraley Ryland. Alongside his parents Gisbon is preceded in death by wives Deborah Dawson Ryland and Greta Prater Ryland; a brother Syd Ryland; an uncle Ted Cyrus; a niece Kelli Jo Cyrus; and two great-nephews Corey Ryland and Ryan Sammons.

Gibson served in the army from 1968 to 1972 and he was a welder for ACF Industries.

Survivors include a daughter Jennifer (Rob) Ryland-Baker; a son Master Trooper Jim (Erin) Ryland; two step-sons Mark McDavid and Matt McDavid; a grandson Brennon Bush; three grandaughters Breanna Bush, Isabella Ryland, and Kendall Ryland-Baker; a sister Phyllis Cyrus; two nephews Charlie (Heather) Cyrus and Doug Ryland; a niece Dianna (Rick) Sammons; and a host of great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services with full military honors will be held on Saturday, February 8th at 1:00 PM at the Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Mack Ray Cyrus officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery (East) in Louisa, KY. 

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, February 8th from 11:00 AM until the time of services at the Wilson Funeral Home.
