Obituary of Nora Wells
Nora Wells ,99, of Louisa, Ky., passed away February 5, 2025,. She had been in hospice care following a lengthy illness. Nora was born November 18, 1925, to Henry and Ottie Bowling Howell near East Fork, KY. She was the wife of the late Russell Wells, of Louisa, KY.
Preceding her in death, were her parents, her loving husband, Russell, their two infant daughters, Brenda and Bobbie Wells, their daughter Nancy Wells McKenzie Collins, and their daughter-in-law, Kay Riddle Wells. Also preceding her in death were her four brothers, Garland, George, Hager, and William Ernest Howell.
Her survivors include her sons, John (Lavada) Wells of Avon, IN, and Robert, ”Bob”, (Cathi) Wells of Louisa, KY, 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and her loving caregiver, Loudella Ratcliff..
Nora had worked at Cox’s Department Store for many years. She was volunteer for the Senior Circle at Three Rivers Hospital over 30 years, where she was mainly in charge of the gift shop and she was also a Kentucky Colonel. She was the oldest living member of First Baptist Church of Louisa, when they celebrated their 150 year anniversary this past fall. Nora was a caring person who served her friends and family, visiting them in the hospital and nursing home, including taking them food and doing their laundry when they were unable. When she was younger, she drove her elder friends to shop or other outings .More than anything, she loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa, KY, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2 pm with Rev. Chuck Price officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 12 pm to 2 pm. Burial will follow in the Yatesville Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First Baptist Church of Louisa.
