Obituary of Elton Ray Stroud

Elton Ray Stroud 79 of Fort Gay WV, born on February 2, 1946, to the late Thomas and Perva (Marcum)Stroud of Dunlow WV, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday February 9, 2025 at Cabel Huntington Hospital.


He was married to his sweetheart Darlene Crum on December 23rd 1966, and had his name written in the lambs book of life in the summer of 1973. Elton was a proud Graduate of Crum High School’s class of 1964 and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local union #317 in Huntington WV where he retired after 37 years. Elton was a beloved member of the Fort Gay Church of God.


Proceeding him in death were his Parents Thomas and Perva (Marcum) Stroud, a sister and brother in law Jean and Jerry Stamper, brother and sister in law Roy and Faye Stroud, sister Maxie Finnegan, brother and sister in law Claude and Donna Stroud, brother in laws Tom Jarrell and Bill Gates as well as his father and mother in law Earl and Roberta Crum. 


Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years Darlene Stroud of Fort Gay WV, sisters Wilkie Jarrell of Logan OH and Sharon Gates of Huntington WV and brother Gary (Debra) stroud of Dunlow WV. A daughter Sherie (Tom) Marcum of Huntington WV and sons Steve (Shaunna) Stroud and Rodney (Angela) Stroud both of Fort Gay WV. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren: Heath Stroud, Jared Stroud, Kayla Stroud, Tyler Stroud, Dylan Stroud, Taylor Ball, Evan Ball, Eric Nease, Chance Stroud, Takoda Stroud, James Marcum, Johnathan Marcum, Jason Marcum, Jeffery Marcum, Ashley Marcum, 28 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild with a host of Nieces and Nephews that he loved dearly.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 14th at 12:00 PM at the Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Troy Maynard Cemetery.

Friends may visit the family on Thrusday, February 13th from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Wilson Funeral Home.
