Kathleen B. Kimbrell of Lexington, KY died at Baptist Health Lexington on Monday April 21st, 2025. Born on April 16, 1936 to the late Autie and Marie Burgess; she was the youngest of eight children. The family lived on a farm located on the Levisa Fork of the Big Sandy River. In her early days, she was the wife of the late James J. Thacker of Ashland and they had three children: Jaymi Mullins (deceased), Cary Davis (Lewis), and Dirk Thacker (Lori). Later in life, she married the late Robert L. Kimbrell and they enjoyed travelling and spending time with family.

In addition to her children, Kathleen had six grandchildren: Sydney Keeton (James), Katie Collins (Clay), Evan Davis (Britany), Ian Davis, Hayden Thacker and Burgess Thacker. She was also blessed with four great-granddaughters: Barrett, Ellison, Finley and Gia.

A devout Christian and talented artist, Kathleen painted many religious murals on the walls of the children’s wing at the First United Methodist Church in Ashland, Kentucky. She loved flowers and trees and was known for pulling off of an interstate to identify a plant that she saw when passing by. She also loved her kitty, Honey.

A graveside service will be held at the family cemetery in Louisa, Kentucky at 2:00pm on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

Care for Kathleen and her family has been entrusted to our family at Wilson Funeral Home.
