Richard G. Gilliam, 74, of Blaine, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Springfield, Ohio, to Emery and Esta (Burchwell) Gilliam. At the age of 19, Richard was drafted into the Army. He proudly served his country and was a devoted Army veteran. After his military service, he began his career as a machinist.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Raymond Gilliam, Roger Gilliam, Ronald Gilliam, and sister Reva McOsker. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Gloria (Mollette) Gilliam, one sister, Rowena Price, his children, Brian (Cyndie) Gilliam, Jennifer (Brian) Tuttle and Brad Gilliam, his six grandchildren, Elijah (Alaina) Tuttle, Casie (Stephen) Zierhart, Kyla Tuttle, Brianna Gilliam, Matthew Gilliam, and Logan Gilliam, and one great granddaughter, Eleanor Tuttle.

Richard will be remembered for his love of tinkering in the workshop, his creative spirit, his ability to fix anything, love of his animals, especially his cats Snow and SiFi and his generosity. He found joy in building and fixing things, always ready to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed helping and spending time with Chester and Tonya Slone at their greenhouse. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family.

The family is deeply grateful for the exceptional care and support provided by the Hershel “Woody” Williams VA Medical Center and Community Hospice, Ashland, Kentucky.

Care for Richard and his family has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home.
