Henry Alan McCoy Obituary

Henry Alan McCoy Obituary

The family of Henry Alan “Jake” McCoy is deeply saddened to announce his passing on April 11, 2026. Born on May 10, 1947, in Pinson Fork (Pike County), Kentucky, Jake lived a full and remarkable life. He touched the hearts of everyone he met through his exuberance and love for people, his determination and work ethic, and most importantly his love and devotion to God and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. He will be lovingly remembered by countless family members, loved ones, and cherished friends.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Phronsie McCoy, brothers Bob and Gordon McCoy, sisters Helen “Joan” Thompson, Grace Fields, Manie O’Pell, Gladys “Pug” Skeens and Mildred Taylor, his beloved in-laws Dewitt and Barbara Diamond, his daughter, Michelle Ann McCoy, and many other precious friends and loved ones.

Jake is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bobbi Ann Diamond McCoy. She was his life partner, best friend, and closest confidant. He is also survived by two sisters, Roberta Jean “Jeanie” McCoy and Elaine (Carl) Shortridge, five children, Barbara (Bryan) Denton of Lawrenceburg, KY, Jason (Diana) McCoy of San Antonio, TX, Larry McCoy, Walter McCoy and Bernie Sims, all of Louisa, KY, six grandchildren, Adriana (Garrett) Barnett, Leticia McCoy and Benjamin McCoy, all of San Antonio, TX, Cecileigh (Chris) Watts and Mike (Bailey) Sims, both of Zebulon, GA, and Brianna Baize of Rochester, NY, six great-grandchildren and more nieces, nephews, family, honorary family and friends than I could name.

Throughout his journey in life, Jake wore many hats, both figuratively and literally. His first job was working for the CIA. He then served in the US Navy during the Vietnam war. He was an electrician onboard the USS Sutherland during the Navy. He worked as an ironworker though Local 769 of Ashland, KY for many years. He owned and operated McCoy Glass Company alongside his brother Gordon. He was a pastor and preacher, an ordained minister of the United Methodist Church. But more than anything, he was a husband, father, uncle, mentor and friend.

The family would like to thank the nurses and medical staff of Cabell Huntington Hospital for their compassion and care.

A celebration of life will be held at the Louisa Senior Citizen Center on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 3:00pm – 7:00pm. A graveside service will be held at the Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery NE (outside Grayson, KY) on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 1:00pm.
