Robert Charles Thompson “Bobby” Eulogy
Linda Sue Thompson Ewing (Sister)
Bobby was my best friend while growing up from the moment I laid eyes on him. It was at that moment of him arriving into our home that I made the conscious decision that I wanted to be a mom when I grew up! I can remember waiting outside the cool October day and watching for my dad’s car to round the bend on Broadhead Road and make the right turn onto Sharon Grange Road. When I saw his car I began to jump up and down, clapping my hands!!!
Bobby grew to be one of the most loving, cuddly little babies a sister could ever wish for. As time went on we all knew we had a very special little guy in our lives! He made a personal impact on each of us; each impact was personal because Bobby connected with each of us on different levels.
I remember when Bobby would go into Crest Cut Rite, the drug store on Broadhead Road. All the cashiers would call out, “Hi Bobby!” He would toss his long blonde hair and smile and say hi back! His personality was magnetic to say the least! However, when Bobby became a teenager and the cashiers said, “Hi Bobby!” he set them straight one day. He blurted out, my name is Robert! HaHaa…Robert was becoming a young man and he knew himself!!!
I also remember when Bobby would go to speech therapy class in Sewickley every Saturday for 5 years. I would go with him and sit outside the looking window where I could see and hear what the speech therapist was teaching him. We would then go home and I would play school with him that week and encourage him with what I saw the therapist teach. We played a game where he would sit at the top of the steps in our old farm house and he would toss a ball down the steps to me. I would surprise him with a word of the day that he had learned that Saturday. The deal was, I couldn’t toss the ball back up to him until he said the word correctly. He loved this game and was so excited when he got the word right and was able retrieved the ball again!
Another favorite memory of mine with Robert was when he would play dis-jockey with his records and put “his song” on the record player, “I wanna be Bobby’s Girl”. He would hand me a pretend mic and ask he to sign it to him. Yes indeed!!! I sang my heart out to him because I truly wanted to be Bobby’s Girl, Sister and Best Friend.
The summer of 1972 Robert and I was in the pasture fields walking and talking about God. I asked him if he wanted to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior and he answered me, “Yes I do!” I lead him through the sinner’s prayer and when we were finished with the prayer he signed a big sigh and said, “I know Him!” Together we cried and rejoiced as we joined hands, running through the pasture field then headed back home.
Robert will be missed greatly but those of us who knew him will always carry our special moments and memories of him with us in our thoughts and our hearts. Bobby, until we meet again in Heaven…thank you for all the love and memories you left us with!
Love, your sister Linda Sue…Bobby’s Girl

Robert is my brother and he was my best friend while growing up! He was the best brother a sister could ever ask for. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ one summer day while he and I was in the pasture fields of our family farm in Aliquippa, PA. I know he’s in heaven rejoicing with Family & Friends!
Love,
Linda Sue Thompson Ewing
