Obituary of Oreitha B. Akers

Bessie Oreitha Akers was ushered into the presence of God by angels May 22 at home at 7:41 PM after a long illness. Mrs. Akers was born November 12, 1942 in Patrick, KY to the late Oscar and Ethel Fitch Runyon.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack McKinnon, Jim McKinnon, and Willard Runyon; and two sisters Geneva Meade and Ruth Rowe.

She is survived by her husband of 58 plus years, Paul Wendell Akers; four sisters, Betty Boyd, Rose Fisher, Debbie Fitch, and Margaret Whitt; two children, Michael Anthony Akers and Brenda Sue Akers Cordial and husband James Cordial; four granddaughters, Heather Ashley Akers Cole and her husband Dewey Cole, Whitley Dawn Wells Davenport and husband Justin Davenport, Taylor Lynn Cordial, and Abigail Grace Akers; two grandsons, Michael Anthony Akers, Jr. and Wesley Thomas Cordial;  six great-grandchildren, Felix Cole, Oscar Cole, Milo Cole, Kylie Davenport, Ari Davenport, and Salem Davenport; and her oldest and dearest friends,  Linda Tackett and Trisha Wilbur. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 25th, 2021 at 2pm at Belles Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Willie Gene Hayes and Bro. Brian Crum officiating.  Burial will follow in the Akers Cemetery at Ulysses, KY.  Friends may visit the family on Monday, May 24th from 5-9pm at Belles Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.  All care has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home.
