Obituary of Martha Dortherla Derifield

Martha Dortherla Derifield, age 97, of Louisa, Kentucky passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 9, 2021. Martha was born April 21, 1924 at Maynard Branch in Lawrence County, Kentucky to the late Wayne and Mallie LeMaster Maynard. Martha is reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband of almost 77 years, Obie Derifield, and a son, Larry.

Martha, a dedicated homemaker, was known for her devout faith, beautiful flowers and plants, and love for feeding people. She thoroughly enjoyed countless hours of cooking, baking and caring for her loved ones.

Martha is survived by her two sons: Jerry (Patricia) Derifield and Rickie (Stephanie) Derifield both of Louisa, Kentucky; three granddaughters: Kelli,(Bryan) Blair of Louisa, Kentucky; Melani Derifield of Charleston West Virginia; and Chelsey Derifield of Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandsons: Brad (Angel) Derifield of Louisa, Kentucky; Jason (Holly) Derifield of Georgetown, Kentucky, and Tyler (Elizabeth) Brewer, Lexington, South Carolina; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Martha is also survived by her three sisters Chris (Bud) Cossin; Moncie (late Frank) Kiser, and Juanita (late Jack) Huntzinger; and a special niece, Connie Kiser Lowe, all from Zephyrhills, Florida.

Martha is preceded in death by her three brothers: Ed (Lucille) Maynard of Mansfield, Ohio; Bill (Joy) Maynard of Louisa, Kentucky; and Don (Della) Maynard of Louisa, Kentucky; and one daughter-in-law, Lois Hughes Derifield.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 12th at the Louisa United Methodist Church, 816 Pine Hill Road, Louisa, Kentucky with visitation at Noon and funeral services at 1pm with Reverend Dan Smith, officiating. Burial will be at the Derifield Cemetery at Clifford, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Louisa United Methodist Building Fund.
