The world certainly needs gentle souls like Lafe's.
I have had the honor to be part of Lafe's healthcare team. I never saw him as a patient but as a source of great inspiration in both what he said and what he lived in times I was discouraged, in times I was scared.
I will miss him dearly.
None of us will take anything with us when we move on to our permanent residency.
But some of us will leave a lot behind, initially as a source of grief and pain of separation, that will change supernaturally to a source of peace, hope and inspiration. Lafe is certainly one of those who leave a lot behind, and his memory will be used by a wiser power as a source of good, tolerance, acceptance, inclusion, endurance, hope, and joy.

Lafe (we called him Buddy) was a few years younger and I remember the first year he was in marching band. He stood beside me and I think I had him by his coattail those first few home games in order to get him to the right spot. I think that was the first year we did precision drill.
Sharon Kay and I were in the same grade and we have been friends forever. Seems like just a short time ago. His dad and my dad were in the same class at Louisa High School.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family.

Lafe will surely be missed by the staff of Burger King.. I have been there for 26 years and I can always remember him coming by. He was always very friendly and professional. He treated us all with kindness. I am so sorry for this family’s loss. I will keep you all in my prayers. Fly high and Rest In Peace Lafe..
