Obituary of Debra Joyce Guthrie

The world unexpectedly lost a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Wife, Daughter, Aunt, and Friend. Debra Joyce Guthrie was re-united with her daughter Heather and her brother Steve in Heaven on January 25, 2022.

She is survived by her parents, Samuel and Lorene Moore Self; her loving husband, Matthew Guthrie; two sons, Samuel Saner and Caleb Guthrie; two daughters-in-law, Carlene Thompson and Lindsey Guthrie; five granddaughters, Taylor Saner, Olivienne Heather Guthrie, Makala Lynn Borowicz, Samantha Martin, and Violet Martin; one grandson, Tyler Saner; aunt, Marlene Carter; uncle, Buck Carter; niece, Lauren Self; niece, Madelyn Self; cousin, Rita Hicks; cousin, Gene Carter; and cousin, Scott (Daphne) Hylton.

Debbie will be remembered as a woman who led a full life of compassion and adventure.

She spent many of her working years cultivating a career and friendships at Value City Furniture.

Debbie had a deep soul and an open heart. Her family and friends could always count on her generous heart and her gentle and encouraging words. Driven by empathy, faith, and optimism, Debbie spent time doing volunteer work at Hospice of North Charleston, offering kind words and support to grieving families. She would also donate supplies to local animal shelters.

Some of Debbie’s favorite things included travel, music concerts, roller coasters, her dogs Bailey and Gracie, Ohio State Football, and Folly Beach in South Carolina. She enjoyed these things most while spending time with family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to say goodbye at: at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa, KY with Pastor Chuck Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Self Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Sunday, January 30 from 1:00 PM until the time of services at the Wilson Funeral Home.
