Obituary of Sammie Wray Thompson

Sammie Wray Thompson, 80, of Louisa, KY passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022. Mr. Thompson was born December 18, 1941, in Cordell, Kentucky to the late Monroe and the late Minnie Pearl Rose Thompson.

 

He is survived by his companion/caregiver, Mary Ellen Reid and nieces & nephews.

 

Sam worked for fifty years at the Riverview Hospital and later, the Riverview Clinic as an x-ray technician. He was a Christian and member of the First Baptist Church of Louisa, where he joined in 1960, and later went on to teach the Junior Boy’s Class.  Sam loved life and people.  He had a passion for history, was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, and gave student scholarships.  His hobbies were the stock market and collecting coins.  He also loved to discuss politics.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinehill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday, July 8 after 6:00 PM at the Wilson Funeral Home. All care has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home.

Family request face masks be worn during visitation and services.
