Obituary of Earl Gene Mollette

Please share a memory of Earl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Earl Mollette was born on February 6, 1944 in Minnie, Kentucky in Floyd County to James (Jake) and Matilda Ann Mollette.  Earl passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at his home where he resided in Blaine, Kentucky.

Earl was preceded in death by his father Jake and his mother Matilda.  Also preceded in death were Vonda Mollette(wife of Denver), Julie Mollette(wife of Daymond), and David Kimbler(husband of Nathel).

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Lola Jane Mollette, their two children, Connie Evelyn Huff(Chuck Osborne), Earl Gene Mollette II(Sarah), and his only grandchild, Michaela Evelyn Huff.  Earl is survived by five brothers, Donald Mollette (Jane), Ronnie Mollette(Frances), Vernon Mollette (Rita), Denver Mollette, and Daymond Mollette. Earl is also survived by three sisters, Nathel Kimbler, Gloria Gilliam (Rick), and the baby of the family Cassie Barker(Danny).  Earl will also be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends for his kind and faithful character.

Like his father before him, he lovingly provided for his family by working in the coal industry from daylight to dark.  Earl was raised by his parents to love his family unconditionally and wholeheartedly, which he faithfully did throughout his life.  He loved his wife, children, and granddaughter beyond words. Upon his retirement, Earl became loving chauffeur and best buddy to his pride and joy, his granddaughter Michaela. They spent numerous evenings after school enjoying Wendy's french fries and Frosty's.  He played with Michaela outside after school, teaching her to shoot basketball and ride her bike. She was always, and will always be, number one with Papaw.

Earl was an avid fan of University of Kentucky basketball and loved to watch them play.  He also loved to be outside, working in the vegetable garden and fixing up his old truck.
