Obituary of Gloria Jean Cassell

Gloria Jean York Cassell, 85,  of Louisa, KY passed away February 4, 2023 at Trinity Station Retirement Community of Flatwoods, KY following a brief illness.

Gloria was born to Ulysses Grant York and Georgia Varney York on March 12, 1937 in Glenhayes, WV. She graduated from Fort Gay High School in 1956 as Valedictorian and later worked as a legal secretary to several attorneys. She also served Young Republicans of KY as secretary from 1957-1958. She was married to Billy Cassell on December 23, 1960 and their daughter, Crystal, was born on September 9, 1970. Later, a son,  Jason,  was born on December 15, 1975. Bill and Gloria were married 47 years until Bill passed on March 20, 2008. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings; Isabelle Swearingin, Harold York, Alvis York, Grant York, Jr., Oretha Heisler, Joy Walker, and Joanne York. 

Gloria is survived by a daughter, Crystal (John) Walker, and a son, Jason (Sarah) Cassell and her grands: Brooke (Trevor) Rinaldi, Madison Cassell, Luke (Haleigh) Cassell, Nate Cassell and Vivienne Cassell and two great-grands: Aliza and Abram Rinaldi. She is also survived by four sisters, Christene See, Fern Powers, Janet Johnson and Barbara Artrip, along with several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa, KY with Bro. Luke Cassell officiating. Burial will follow in Yatesville Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family from 12:00 PM until time of service.
