Obituary of Karen Thompson Morningstar

Karen Thompson Morningstar 56 of Catlettsburg, Kentucky passed away February 16, 2023 at her home following a brief illness.

Karen was born January 25, 1967 at Indianapolis, Indiana the daughter of the late William and Mary Kitts Thompson. She was a Operating Engineer at Marathon Refinery.

Survivors include her husband Melvin Morningstar; a son Jonathon Opell and wife Hannah; a daughter Tasha Opell; grandchildren Carter Grigsby, Kinley Opell, Josie Opell, Christopher Lee, Tyler Lee, Stepanie Morningstar, Justin Morningstar, Joey Morningstar, Eric Morningstar, Ryan Morningstar, and Hailey Morningstar; brothers Richard Darrell Thompson and Destry Thompson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday February 20, 2023 at noon at the Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Porter officiating.Burial will follow in the Damron Community Cemetery at Radnor, WV.

Friends may visit the family on Monday at 11:00 am until time services at the Wilson Funeral Home.
