Obituary of Joe McGinnis

Joe McGinnis 81 of Blaine, Kentucky passed away November 10, 2024 following a brief illness.

Joe was born March 1, 1943 at Martin County Kentucky the son of the late John and Hazel Perkey McGinnis. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Thelma Whitt McGinnis; two sons Joseph David (J.D.) McGinnis and Chad Henry McGinnis; siblings Vina Davis, Bea Chapman, Stella Chapman, Grace McGinnis, Naomi McGinnis, Lushie Preece, and Hester McGinnis, James McGinnis, Everett Lee Young, Clarence McGinnis, Henry McGinnis and Enoch McGinnis.

Joe was a disabled coal miner and farmer. He proudly served in the United States Army.

Survivors include a daughter Angela McGinnis, sons Jason ( Bonnie) McGinnis, Greg (Jeanette) McGinnis, and John (Tammy) McGinnis; step son James Michael Whitt; grandchildren Zachary (Dominique) McGinnis, Tessa McGinnis, Isabella McGinnis, Emmy McGinnis, Braxton (Allie) McGinnis, Shanna Newsome, DeAndra (Brandon) Newsome, Willie O'Brian, Faith O'Brian, Hope O'Brian, Astoria (Josh) Elliott, Chad McGinnis, Tori McGinnis, Riley Joe McGinnis, Jayden McGinnis, and Harper McGinnis; great grand children Ella Snodgrass, Easton McGinnis, Augustus McGinnis, Natalie Preston, Maci Preston, Jaxon McGinnis, Jace Newsome, CharLeigh Jo Runyon, and Eli Elliott;and siblings Ollie (Claudette) McGinnis, Kenton (Arvie) McGinnis, Icle (John) Copley, Ida Faye Goble, and Mary Ellen Webb.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday November 15, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Robbie May, Bro. Tim Preece, and Bro. Elmo Canterbury officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors in the Yatesville Memorial Gardens. 

Friends may visit the family on Wednesday November 13th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and Thursday November 14th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Wilson Funeral Home.

In Lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made to the Warfield Church of God in memory of Joe McGinnis.
