Obituary of Freeda Elaine Gibson

Freeda Elaine Gibson, 69, of Ashland, Kentucky, formerly of Louisa, Kentucky, passed away in Ashland on November 15, 2024. Born on September 26, 1955, in Williamson, she was the beloved daughter of the late Freeman and Margaret Gibson.

Freeda was a 1973 graduate of Williamson High School and a graduate of Southern West Virginia Community College. She began her lifelong calling as a Registered Nurse, starting her career at Williamson Memorial Hospital and spending the majority of her 40-year nursing career at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, Kentucky. Freeda’s dedication and compassion defined her profession, and she touched countless lives through her service and care.

Freeda was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Known for her kindness, resilience, and warm spirit, her greatest joy was her family. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and extended loved ones, and her love and generosity were evident in every aspect of her life.

She is survived by her children, Robert M. Ratcliff II (Robbie) of Naples, Florida, and Bryanne Hamilton (Chris) of Catlettsburg, Kentucky; her adored grandchildren, Myla Grace, Mason Grant, and Marlee Grey Hamilton; her siblings, Joseph Gibson (Elaine) of Bluffton, Ohio; Jeffrey Gibson of Genoa, West Virginia; and Vivian Joyce Phillips (Bill) of Williamson, West Virginia. She is also survived by her special cousin, Melissa, who was like a sister to her, along with many other nieces, nephews, and special cousins who brought joy to her life.

Freeda joins her parents, Freeman and Margaret Gibson, in eternal rest. She will be laid to rest at Mountain View Memory Gardens in Maher, West Virginia, near her parents.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa, Kentucky. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Louisa, Kentucky, with Brother Randy Rhodes leading the service.
