Obituary of Walter Buck Adkins Jr.

Walter "Buck" Adkins Jr. 84 of Genoa, WV passed peacefully from this life on Sunday January 5, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Helen Adkins.

Walter retired from the WVDOH after 30 years of service of which he gained several co-workers and friends.

He is survived by 5 children, Jerry (Jackie) Adkins, Tim (Kim) Adkins, and Joe Adkins of Genoa, WV; Jennifer (Rick) Bass of Sparr, FL, and Adam (Sabrina) Adkins of Inez, KY. He has 12 Grandchildren, 2 Step Grandchildren, and 7 Great Grandchildren.

Walter is the son of the late Walter and Ethel Adkins. He is survived by one brother, Floyd (Denise) Adkins of Ohio and preceded in death by one sister, Vernie Dean.

Walter was a very fine man and was loved greatly by his family and friends. He will forever be missed.

The famil will always be grateful for all those who shared in his journey, and thankful for all the Hospice Workers who were so loving and kind to him and his family during his illness.

Funeral services will be held on Friday January 10th at 10:00 am at the Fort Gay Church of God with Rev. Randy Smith, Rev. Gabe Smith, and Rev. Rick Bass officiating. Burial will follow in the Workman Cemetery at Genoa, WV.

Friends may visit the family on Thursday January 9th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Fort Gay Church of God.

Care for Walter and his family has been entrusted to our famiily at Wilson Funeral Home.
