Gwendolyn Derifield age 96 of Clifford, KY passed away October 4, 2013 at J. J. Jordan Geriatric Center following a long illness. Gwendolyn was born August 16, 1917 at Peach Creek, Logan County West Virginia, the daughter of the late Vincent and Myrtle Fields Sammons. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years George Derifield who died in 2003, sisters Jean Turill and Wilma Wallace. She was a homemaker and member of the Missionary Baptist Church for 80 years. Survivors include a daughter Elizabeth Green of Louisa, two sons George Phillip Derifield of Lexington, KY and Gary Derifield of Frankfort, KY, a sister Mildred Kinder of Madisonville, KY, four grandchildren five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday October 7, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home by Rev. John May. Burial will follow in the Derifield Cemetery at Clifford, KY. Friends may call after 11:00 am Monday and until time of services at the funeral home.
