Dorothy Ann Posten New, widow of Homer U. New, passed away Tuesday, November 12th at the Springfield Ohio Masonic Home. Visitation will be at Wilson Funeral Home, Louisa, Ky on Saturday November 16, 2013 from 5-7 pm. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday November 17, 2013 at Big Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church, Fort Gay, WV with Pastor Tony Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn cemetery in Louisa, Ky. Dorothy was born April 8, 1919 in Morgantown, WV, a daughter of the late Curtis Thornton Posten and Nell Rebecca Posten. After her husband of fifty six years retired, they moved back to his hometown of Kenova. She was a member of the Kenova United Methodist Church where she sang in the Senior Choir. Her life was devoted to her family, to being a Girl Scout leader, teaching children in Sunday School, playing her piano for her churches and volunteering many years at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Dorothy loved people and was devoted to her church and bible studies. Surviving are three daughters; Judy Brinson (Bob) of Charleston South Carolina, Sally Mizerik of Ceredo, WV and Laura Schmitt (Jeff) of Springfield, Oh. Two sons; H.P. “Corky” New of Prichard, WV and Curtis A. New (Debbie) of Lewisburg, Ohio. One brother, Charles L. Posten of Liberty , W.V. Nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers, David Posten of Kanawha City, WV and Donald Posten of California and a daughter in law, “Peggie” New of Prichard, WV. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Big Hurricane Baptist Church Building fund, Fort Gay WV Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home, Louisa,Ky Online condolences can be made at wilsonfuneralhomeky.com
