Sigrid Ehle Hughes, 75, recently of Beckley, West Virginia, died February 15, 2015. A native of Darmstadt, Germany, she was born on July 3, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Friedrich and Elsa Ehle. In 1959, Mrs. Hughes married Hershel L. "Lee" Hughes. During his military career, they lived several places across the United States and Germany. In 1974, they settled in Louisa, Kentucky. She and her husband raised a large flower and vegetable garden out on Route 32 year after year. Mrs. Hughes especially loved to cook German food for her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Lee Hughes; her brother, Helmut Ehle, and her sisters, Erika Stahl and Ilsa Ehle. She is survived by her two children, a son, Stefan Richard "Rick" Hughes (Stacey) of Bowling Green, Kentucky and a daughter, Tanya Ford (Scott) of Oak Hill, West Virginia, and four grandchildren, Ryan Hughes, Elise Hughes, Blake Ford and (soon-to-be) Brooke Ford. She is also survived by a sister, Gerlinde Sauer and a brother, Gerd Ehle, both of Darmstadt, Germany; her mother-in-law, Eula Hughes of Fallsburg, Kentucky; a brother-in-law, Eldred Hughes of Louisa, sisters-in-law, Francis "Fannie" Spyers of Gahanna, Ohio, Phyllis "Sis" Kline of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Joan Frazier of Rush, Kentucky, Debbie Perkins of Columbus, Ohio and several nieces, nephews and family members. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday Feb. 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Hughes officiating. Entombment will follow in Yatesville Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 11:00 am Thursday and until time of services at the Wilson Funeral Home.
