Joan Thompson 78 of Hopewell Twp, formerly of Louisa passed away Saturday March 24, 2012 in Heritage Valley, Beaver. Joan was born Dec. 22, 1933 in Fullers, KY, the daughter of the late John E. and Anna Laura "Laurie" (McKenney) Skeens. Joan left the cornfields of Kentucky in 1949. She moved to Aliquippa in search of a better life and true love, both of which she found in her late husband Howard W. Thompson Sr. In addition to her parents and husband Howard, she was preceded in death by her daughter Lois A. Baker, a sister Azell S. Thompson and her friend Keith "Gator" Leedy. Surviving are two sons and a daughter in law Howard W. Jr. and Debra A. Thompson and Robert C. "Bobby" Thompson all of Hopewell Twp, a daughter Linda White of Washington, PA, four grandchildren Ashley A. Thompson and Robert M. Thompson both of Aliquippa; Brian R. Ewing and Gavin White both of Washington, PA and a great grandson Alexander A. Thompson of Hopewell Twp. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday March 31st at 11:00 am at the Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Yatesville Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday March 30th at Wilson Funeral Home.
