Hiawatha Blackburn 74 of Spankem Branch Louisa, KY passed away Friday February 10, 2017 at his home following a brief illness. Hiawatha was born August 15, 1942 at Inez, KY the son of the late Dewey and Rebecca Moore Blackburn. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter Brenda Blackburn-Yaws, brothers Clifford, George, Burges, and Delbert Blackburn; and sisters Diana Blackburn and Ernestine Slone. He worked as a roofer for 43 years. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years Joyce Paul Blackburn; a daughter Rebecca Blackburn-Moulton and husband James of Avon, NY; step children Hayley Offen of Canandaigua, NY, John Paul and wife Maliaka of Rochester, NY, Harold Gillette of Prescott Valley, AZ, Richard Gillette of Canandaiqua, NY, and William Gillette of Dayton, FL; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may visit the family on Monday Feb. 13th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the East Avon Fire Department 1615 W. Henrietta Road Avon, NY 14414 in Hiawatha Blackburn's memory. Care has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home.
