It's comforting knowing that death is only temporary and that in the future here on earth, we'll have the opportunity again to embrace our dear loved ones that we have temporarily lost in death. Those will be days for rejoicing for all that makes us cry today will be no more - Revelation 21:3,4. May Jehovah, the God of all comfort, give you the strength you need to endure until then.

I remember Josh as a fine young man who was in my Spanish class at Lawrence County High School a few years back. He was a good student and well liked by his classmates. At that time I had recently lost my oldest son who also died at an early age, only 51. It was due to something like an aneurism right next to the heart and no one had known his flu like symptoms were something so serious. Only four months earlier his dad had passed away from liver cancer. Those students never realized how much they helped me get through the terrible stages of mourning. I told the class I was writing a book about my family genealogy and my faith, and I recently had it published, dedicated to my husband and son. I thank that class for helping me find God's purpose for my life.

Ever since day one at the Governor's Scholar Program on Bellarmine's campus, me and Josh were greatfriends. In actuality, he was one of four guys I met at GSP that I actually stayed in touch with. Granted, it had fallen off in the last couple years, but the four of us were always messaging each other about funny occurrences or even just to catch up. I'll never forget the hospitality the Marcum family showed me when I drove up from Bowling Green to visit for the weekend in the summer of 2012. While there, we were given a tour of the local coal mine / power plant that Josh's dad was currently working at. While touring, I grabbed a souvenir: a fist-sized lump of coal I found in the coal mine. At the time I grabbed this as a relic of the dying coal industry that I thought might soon be abandoned, but now it's meaning has much more depth. The piece of coal sits on my dresser, and now everyday I look at it I will remember Josh, all the good times we shared, and all the smiles he was able to make appear on even the most dampened of faces with his amazingly real/hysterical stories he shared of his life in eastern Kentucky.
RIP Josh, you will be missed dearly

While I may not have known him personally it's times like this that really put life into perspective. I've had quite a many a friend I went to school with some time ago plucked from this earth in an instant. People I looked up to who I could have swore to you were invincible but... It is horrible that it has to happen, but it does happen to us all eventually. It's a shame however to see one brought down so early on in their prime. My condolences to those who are suffering from the loss. I know no amount of words can dampen the reality of it but time heals and life continues. It must.
