Joann Stevens 78 of Ulysses, KY went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday October 24, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Joann was born August 19, 1939 at Georges Creek, KY, the daughter of the late Otto and Dorthy Marie Castle. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Billy R. Stevens who died in 2014, son Owen Ray Stevens, a brother Otto Castle Jr., and a sister Joy Doreen Borders. Joan was a wonderful wife and mother, she loved to work in her flowers, she enjoyed crocheting and being with her family. She was a member of the Walnut Grove FWB Church for over 50 years and sang with the Stevens Family in many churches in the area. Survivors include two daughters who loved her greatly, Ella "Cricket" Darby and husband Jim and Regina Rae Howard and husband Glen all of Ulysses; a son Rick Stevens of Fort Gay, WV; two sisters Linda Cavins also of Ulysses and Tonya Dye and husband Paul of Lowmansville, KY; a brother Robert Lee Castle and wife Teresa also of Ulysses; four grandchildren James Robert Stevens, Kristi Michele Honeycutt, Cody Watkins, and Ebony Dawn Borders; three great grandchildren Hannah Marie Rose, Connor Honeycutt, and McKenzie Grace Honeycutt; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday Oct. 28th at 3:00 pm at the Walnut Grove FWB Church with Rev. Jimmy Vanhoose officiating. Burial will follow in the Stevens Cemetery Nelson Branch Lowmansville, KY. Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm and on Friday from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm at the church. Care has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home.
