I had the pleasure of working with Carl as an Extension Agent. One of the things I remember about Carl was his e-mails. Included is the following that he sent out during Christmas one year.
I wish for you
All the blessings
Of Christmas in your heart!
Peace Joy Love
Contentment Family Friends & Neighbors
Hope Warm Feet Good Music
Stack Cake Shuck Beans Pleasant Memories
Happiness Home Sound Mind & Body, etc. etc.
So…pitch an extra flake or two of hay to the old milk cow & the mule too, and shell just a bit of extra corn for the chickens. Bring back a dry feedsack from the barn stuffed with corn shucks and put it on the porch for your old hound dog, just because it’s Christmas and you want him to sleep warm.
Put another stick of wood on the grate and fix yourself a fresh cup of good perked coffee or pour a glass of cold milk. Cut you off a good sized hunk of old fashioned stack cake, pull your favorite chair up close by the fireplace & prop your feet up on the hearth. Read the second chapter of Saint Luke from the old family Bible on the table and simply enjoy the blessings of Christmas in your heart.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I had the privilege of working with Carl through the agency I worked for, the Natural Resources Conservation Service. He was always a positive, hard working guy. Full of information, always helpful. Wayne County was blessed to have him work for them. I can still hear his wit, dulcimer and down home dialect whenever I thought of him. Rest In Peace my friend. Prayers to the family for comfort and strength.

Dear Marsha and family:
Carl was a very special man. Jim and I enjoyed Carl and valued his service and special interest in Wayne Co. His personality was of one who never knew a stranger and welcomed everyone. We were honored to have known him.

I'm so sorry to hear of Carl David's passing. We grew up together on the Creek. I will always remember him as being kind to me and others. I remember setting on Pete and Fern's porch singing many songs with him-"Jeremiah was a Bullfrog" "Country Roads take me Home" and of course "Amazing Grace". These are memories I have always treasured.
Everyone is in my prayers I know it will be hard for everyone. Carl David rest in peace you will be missed.

I only got to work with Carl for a few years before he retired, but he was always so pleasant and kind to me. When I was a new member of the Extension family, he made me feel welcome and a part of everything. I really missed corresponding with him when he retired, and I am so sad to hear of his passing. I know that he leaves behind cherished and wonderful memories for his family, friends, and the people of Wayne County that he served for over thirty years. Haveagoodun, my friend! I'll certainly miss you!

So very sorry for your loss. We worked at the opposite ends of the state so I didn't get to work directly with Carl very much. Always enjoyed his humor, his sense of humor and his stories. A man of integrity.

So saddened by your loss Bethany. Your Dad was a great guy. He inspired so many young people through his work with the 4-H groups. I can only imagine how much he contributed to the community around him. God Bless you and the rest of the family and friends that will miss him so much.

Carl was a wonderful mentor to me during my first years as an Extension Agent. But more importantly he was a wonderful Christian man who loved the Lord. When I started in 2009, I was only a Christian about 2 years so I know the Lord had his hand in sending me to Wayne County to work alongside of him, if only for a few short years before he retired. I pray Carl's testimony will lead others to know Christ and have the assurance of spending eternity in heaven with Jesus. Will keep you in my prayers.

Bethany,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I know there is nothing anyone can say to make things better for you right now and I really wish I could say that it gets easier with time but the truth is it don’t. You learn to live with the loss but you never get over it. But if you ever need a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen while you just talk I am here. I know what it ya like to be a daddy’s girl. Prayers for you and your family.
Hugs and Prayers,
Paula Brewer
