Obituary of Jennie Mae Holt

Please share a memory of Jennie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mae, 88, passed peacefully August 27, 2012 at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa. She was born in Martin, Kentucky to the late Richard and Julia Click Branham. She was the retired proprietor of Holt's Market on Highway 32, her lifelong home perched on the wooded hill above the store, built by her late husband, William Holt, in 1947. Known by most everyone who met her as "quite a lady," she had an infectious smile and characteristic grace. These kind traits earned her a designation of Kentucky Colonel. The Betsy Ross Rebekah Lodge 95 counted her among its members, as did the First Methodist Church of Louisa. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and quilting. Although saddened by a forced move from her farm in 2011, she found solstice in her new home. Once again, her door was always open and she adjusted amazingly to her new life surrounded by many guardian angels and cared for by her loving daughters. Survivors include daughters Pamela (Ralph) Vaughn, Patricia Holt, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and sisters Mandy Gibson and Glenna (Darrel) Linder. She was preceded in death by daughter Melinda Sue Holt, sister Marie Pitts, brothers Earl Branham, Chester Branham, Homer Branham, Sol Branham, Allie Branham, D.C. Branham. Services will be held Saturday, September 22, 11 a.m. at Louisa United Methodist Church, 816 Pine Hill Road, Rev. Donna Aros, will officiate. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children-Lexington, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40502.
