Obituary of Richard Francis McGinnis, Jr.
Richard Francis McGinnis Jr., 76, of Fort Gay, husband of Kathleen Ann McGinnis, died May 18 in King’s Daughters Medical Center. Richard was born February 1, 1943 in Kingwood, WV, son of the late Richard Francis Sr. and Ellen Pearl Teets McGinnis. Survivors include one sister, Barbara Diedrich of Shamong, NJ, two daughters, Ellen Newhouse and husband Barney of Fort Gay, WV, and Amy Flesher and husband Joseph of Weston, WV. His four grandchildren, Katie Ray and husband Chris of Kenova , WV, Justin Ellison and wife Kayla of South Point, OH, Nathan Flesher of Morgantown, WV and Maggie Ellison of Fort Gay, WV. His two great-grandchildren Kylie and Tucker Ellison of South Point, OH.
In his lifetime he filled many roles, a sailor for the US Navy, a police officer for the city of Port Washington, WI, a lineman for Wisconsin Electric, a sheep herder aka The Crazy Sheep Man, a devoted Christian, a dedicated husband, a great father, and a loving Popa. There will be a Celebration of Life held at the Fort Gay United Methodist Church, June 15, 2019. Condolences to family from 1pm-2pm with services starting at 2pm.
