Please share a memory of Evelyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Evelyn Moore Cordle, age 101 went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at The Jordan Center, Louisa, KY after a brief illness. Evelyn was born February 25, 1918, in Mattie, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Reuben and Monnie McKinster Moore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred B. Cordle of Blaine, KY, and three children: Phyllis Carol West (Gene) and Bobby E. Cordle (Dianne Boggs) both of Louisa, KY and Wanda Lee Hay (Ernest) of Canal Winchester, Ohio.  Also, seven brothers: Clyde Moore, Kenneth Moore, Bill Moore, James Oliver Moore, Claude Moore, Eugene Moore, and Paul Junior Moore; and four sisters: Roberta Ball, Wilva Ball, Ruby Ball, and Miza Moore

She is survived by six children, including three daughters: Virginia May Way, Geneva Faye Isaac (Bobby) both of Louisa, KY, and Lola Jane Mollette (Earl) of Blaine, KY; three sons: James Allen Cordle (Nancy), of Blaine, KY, Lawrence Cordle (Debbie), of Louisa, KY, and Millard Cordle (Trudy), of Grayson, KY. Evelyn was blessed with nine children, 26 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Evelyn was a strong, determined, and fiercely independent Christian lady who loved her children and their children better than life. She often spoke of how she never gave her Mommy and Daddy a short word.  She looked forward to putting out a garden every spring and was a master bean stringer who loved breaking them up while sitting on her porch swing. She was an awesome cook that loved to share her family famous biscuits, chocolate gravy, no-bake cookies, and her delicious “beans and taters” as she liked to call them.  She loved the Stanley Brothers, and could cut a rug like her Daddy who lived to be a 100. She loved to talk about her childhood memories of living in Ashland and walking by the beautiful Weeping Mary statue on her way to Condit School. Many years later she wrote a poem to pay tribute to the school and the teachers she loved there so well. She loved to laugh, sing ditties, and make up sayings for her children, grand, and great-grandchildren. She loved going to church and often felt led by the Holy Spirit to sing a song for the Lord. One of her favorites was Green Pastures. The song says, “Going up home to live in Green Pastures where we shall live and die nevermore. Even the Lord will be in that number when we shall reach that Heavenly Shore.”  What a blessing to know that our Mommy/Mamaw Cordle is home with our Lord and we can go be with her, and not for just a visit, but forever. That was always her hope and prayer for her family.

Evelyn had an incredible life, hard times, good times, love, tears and a huge family.  And she lived it well.

She will be greatly missed by many.
